The entertainment world is shaken as a high-profile legal dispute unfolds following the death of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu. On July 7, Chinese media outlet 163 reported that her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, had filed a lawsuit against DJ Koo (Koo Jun-yup), alleging embezzlement of funds.

According to sources, Wang Xiaofei accused DJ Koo Barbie Hsu’s current husband of misappropriating money from an education fund established for the couple’s two children. Wang Xiaofei claims that DJ Koo transferred the entire fund to South Korea and used it to purchase a luxury residence in Gangnam, Seoul.

Wang Xiaofei has reportedly submitted detailed bank statements to the court as evidence, demanding DJ Koo return 87 million TWD (approximately 2.6 million USD). The court has officially accepted the case and is expected to begin proceedings soon.

Adding to the drama, Wang Xiaofei’s mother, Zhang Lan, also filed a report requesting a police investigation into Barbie Hsu’s family. She accuses them of unlawfully auctioning off her late daughter-in-law’s jewelry and inherited assets before the estate was legally divided.

Despite multiple attempts by Chinese media to reach DJ Koo, Wang Xiaofei, and the Hsu family, none have responded publicly. Some reports suggest that DJ Koo has already returned to South Korea, while Barbie Hsu’s sister, Dee Hsu, was recently seen traveling to Seoul, looking visibly stressed fueling speculation that the family is preparing for the upcoming legal battle.

Barbie Hsu passed away unexpectedly in early February, leading to contentious disputes between her family and Wang Xiaofei over child custody and inheritance. Initially, both sides agreed that Wang Xiaofei would take custody of their two children, and Barbie Hsu’s estimated 30 million USD estate would be divided between DJ Koo and the children. Since the children are minors, Wang Xiaofei assumed responsibility for managing their portion, reportedly around 14.5 million USD.

The feud seemed to have reached a settlement, but tensions resurfaced after Wang Xiaofei’s current wife, Mandy, criticized the Hsu family for neglecting the children despite their return to Taiwan. This case, still unfolding, highlights the fragile intersection of family, fame, and finances in the wake of personal tragedy.
