Dok2 recently shared the heartbreaking news of his mother’s passing, revealing that she had battled pneumonia, diabetes, and a stroke for over three years before peacefully passing away in hospice on March 9. “On Valentine’s Day, we removed all the medical devices in hospice so she wouldn’t have to suffer anymore,” he wrote.

The rapper also expressed his grief and regrets, saying, “For the past few years before my mother passed, I should have always shown her the best version of myself, but I don’t think I was able to, and that pains me.” He added that, for the first time, he was dedicating a song to his mother on her birthday, which he now had to spend without her.

Dok2, who debuted in 2005 through Dynamic Duo’s “Circus,” rose to fame through “Show Me the Money” and became known for flaunting his wealth. However, he later faced backlash over tax delinquency, having failed to pay millions in health insurance and income taxes, leading to his inclusion on public lists of habitual tax delinquents with records showing he owed a total of 3.32 billion KRW (approximately 2.3 million USD) in comprehensive income tax and other dues.

Original Post from Dok2

Hello, this is Dok2.

After spending several years quietly in the U.S., taking care of my parents in their 60s and 70s, I’m writing a post after a long time…

My mother, who had been suffering for over three years from pneumonia, diabetes, and a stroke, peacefully passed away and went to heaven on March 9, just before her birthday. On Valentine’s Day, we removed all the medical devices in hospice so that she wouldn’t have to suffer anymore…

I’ve always released songs for my own birthday, but this time, for the first time, I’m putting out a song dedicated to my mother, in honor of her birthday, which I now have to spend without her…

For the past few years before my mother passed, I should have always shown her the best version of myself, but I don’t think I was able to, and that pains me.

Please set everything about me aside and just listen comfortably.

I dedicate this to everyone going through a similar situation, to those who have experienced the same pain, to my beloved mother who is now in heaven playing with Lupe and our family members who left before us, and to my father, who is now suddenly left alone.

Please, before it’s too late, hug your parents more and tell them you love them.
