“Drug” Yoo Ah-in Sells Itaewon House Featured on “I Live Alone” for 6.3 Billion KRW—1.7 Billion Below Original Asking Price

According to BizHankook on November 29, the house was sold on November 20 for 6.3 billion KRW, significantly lower than the 8 billion KRW asking price initially listed three years ago.
Yoo Ah-in purchased the three-story standalone house (with a basement, covering 337㎡ of land and a total floor area of 418.26㎡) in February 2016 for 5.8 billion KRW under the name of his personal agency “YU Company LLC”. The house became a topic of interest when it was featured on MBC’s variety show “I Live Alone” in 2020. Following the broadcast, Yoo Ah-in moved to Hannam-dong. Three years ago, amidst allegations of habitual drug use, he put the Itaewon-dong property on the market, reportedly seeking 8 billion KRW.

The house was confirmed to have sold on November 20 for 6.3 billion KRW, 1.7 billion KRW less than the original asking price, suggesting it was a rushed sale. However, as ownership transfer documents have not yet been filed with the court, the buyer’s identity remains unknown.

It was also revealed that the property was sold as a “violating structure”. According to the building ledger, Yoo Ah-in had unauthorizedly expanded 10.8㎡ on the first floor by installing windows, which was flagged during an on-site inspection by the Yongsan-gu Office in August 2017. Despite being issued a corrective order, Yoo Ah-in’s agency did not restore the structure to its original state for over seven years. The new owner will either need to pay a penalty or make the necessary restorations.
Meanwhile, regarding Yoo Ah-in’s habitual drug use case, the appellate court is set to hold the sentencing hearing on December 24. During this hearing, the prosecution will present its final argument and sentencing recommendation, and the defendant will deliver a final statement. The verdict is expected to be delivered early next year, about a month after the hearing.
