Even K-pop idols aren’t immune to complicated dating lives, and now, thanks to former BVNDIT member Seungeun, fans are getting an unexpected glimpse into how 4th-gen stars flirt behind the scenes.
In a recent appearance on the YouTube channel CONSO, Seungeun joined fellow girl group members Laboum’s Yujeong and Lovelyz’s Ryu Soo-jung to talk about their experiences as idols. Naturally, the topic of dating surfaced, and Seungeun didn’t hold back.
Gen-Z Idol Flirting Tactics at Music Shows
When asked whether there was ever any romantic tension at music shows, Seungeun shared a personal story from her rookie days promoting with BVNDIT on “M! Countdown.” She recalled being in a shared waiting room when she received an AirDrop message from an unknown male idol, a tech-savvy Gen-Z move that caught her completely off guard.
“A male idol in the next room sent me a news photo of myself from that day with a ‘Hi~’ written on it,” she revealed. “I was curious, but it’s not like I could just walk over and check who it was.”
The AirDrop flirtation might sound clever, or creepy, depending on your perspective, but it reflects how younger idols discreetly express interest in a tightly controlled industry where dating is taboo.
Seungeun’s Dating Drama
But Seungeun’s revelations didn’t stop there. When asked about her last relationship, she shared that she dated an idol around a year and a half ago, but things ended after he claimed he needed to “focus on work.” Months later, she found out he had been cheating on her the entire time.
“He told me he had never dated anyone before,” she said. “But then a younger friend called me and said, ‘Unnie, he had another girlfriend when he was seeing you.’ Apparently, his real girlfriend found out about us.”
Seungeun didn’t name the male idol, only hinting that he’s younger than her and “still very actively promoting.” After that experience, she admitted that she now avoids dating other idols.
