Shin Ye-eun was influenced by her grandfather, a theater actor, and naturally began dreaming of becoming an actress from the third year of middle school. She gave up playing the violin and viola, which she had been practicing with her sister, who is a classical music major, and enrolled in an acting academy.
Shin Ye-eun shared, “I wanted to act rather than just be an actress. I liked receiving applause on stage, and I enjoyed being seen by many people.”
After attending Anyang Arts High School, she entered Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Acting Arts, where she had an active university life as a class representative and a school ambassador. She officially stepped into the entertainment industry after being selected as the cover model for a campus magazine.
After seeing the magazine, JYP Entertainment offered her an audition, and she was chosen as a trainee. Although she received offers to join a girl group due to being from an idol agency, she revealed that she gave it up because she was not good at dancing. Her dancing skills, captured on various entertainment shows, showed her struggle, which made her decision to leave the girl group understandable.
Shin Ye-eun debuted in 2018 as the lead in the Playlist web drama “A-Teen,” and gained popularity through Netflix’s “The Glory.” In particular, she proved her acting skills by perfectly embodying the young Park Yeon-jin in “The Glory.” She successfully transformed from her previous innocent and pure image into a shocking role as a school bully.
However, Shin Ye-eun confessed that she experienced severe trauma, even having nightmares, while filming the hair curling torture scene in “The Glory.”
With her ongoing role in the tvN drama “Jeongnyeon,” Shin Ye-eun has solidified her position as a lead actress, and her talents have also been showcased in variety shows.
Shin Ye-eun stood out as a bright and quirky character in entertainment shows. Her sense of humor displayed in shows like “Budget Travel” and “Running Man” earned her recognition from Yoo Jae-suk and Park Myung-soo.
“Acting is all about momentum!” said Shin Ye-eun. As she continues on this path, she has confirmed her appearances in JTBC’s “A Hundred Memories” and Disney+’s “Murky Water,” raising anticipation for her future projects.
