On June 1st, NHK reported that Maya Yano, singer and guitarist of the famous Japanese band TUYU, had been arrested on charges of attempted murder.
In particular, Maya Yano murdered his underage girlfriend using a knife while she was sleeping. After stabbing on the left of her chest, the male singer called the police to report his behavior and the ambulance by himself. Arriving at the murder scene, the police found the weapon Maya Yano used next to the bed. The girlfriend was taken to the hospital in a state of severe blood loss and Maya Yano was arrested right away.
At the police station, Maya Yano admitted to his crime. The male singer confessed that his intention was to murder his girlfriend then commit suicide. He added, “I attacked her. There’s no excuse. I did it while she was sleeping. My plan was to stab her in the chest to kill her then I would also kill myself”. When asked about the motive of his crime, Maya Yano stated that it was an impulsive act.
The authorities are waiting for the victim to regain consciousness after surgery to investigate the case. Maya Yano’s dangerous and cruel actions have caused outrage among the public and aroused harsh criticism
Maya Yano is 30 years old. He started doing music activities in 2012 as a singer and an animation music producer. Later, he created the band TUYU, then established his own entertainment agency in January 2023 to manage his individual activities and the band promotion.
