On June 18th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Appeal Division 4-1 overturned the original sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison for A (24 years old) on charges of making a false accusation and decided to change the sentence to two years of probation.
She was also ordered to complete 160 hours of community service. As the sentence has been changed to probation, A, who was arrested in the first trial, has also been released.
The court stated, “In this case, if there had been no objective evidence, the accused would have been unfairly punished”, adding “The court should consider the defendant’s life. Given that she’s still young and a first-time offender with no criminal record, the court offered an opportunity for her to rehabilitate herself through community service, rather than imprisonment”.
A is a former member of a famous girl group. She started working as a BJ after stopping her idol activities. In January last year, she was suspected of falsely accusing the CEO of her agency of sexually assaulting her.
The prosecution believed that A falsely accused her agency’s CEO after he refused to break up with his girlfriend at A’s request.
