Nichkhun debuted as a member of 2PM in 2008. Holding dual citizenship in Thailand and the United States, he was the group’s only foreign member. With his princely visuals, innate manners, and exceptional athletic ability, Nichkhun became a standout. He also shone on various variety shows such as “YaShimManMan”, “Cool Kiz on the Block”, “Running Man”, “Idol on the Quiz”, “Buddy Boys”, and “To the Limit”.

Quickly earning widespread love, Nichkhun cemented his position as one of the most successful foreign idols in Korea.

Discovered by Chance at a Festival

… Nickhun…

In 2005, Nichkhun was street-cast by a JYP Entertainment scout at the LA Korean Festival, where he had gone with a friend. After a simple personal audition at a Starbucks, he received an immediate acceptance notice.

I didn’t know a word of Korean and didn’t think I’d make it because I had no talent. I think I was chosen as the foreign-language member,” Nichkhun later shared.

He revealed that if he hadn’t become an idol, he might have pursued photography or piano. “Even if I could go back in time, there’s nothing I’d want to change. Even my mistakes shaped who I am today. I’m very lucky,” he expressed, showing contentment with his life.

Nichkhun also added, “I had no dream of becoming a singer and couldn’t even speak Korean, yet I succeeded as a foreign Korean idol. Along the way, I met wonderful people like my 2PM members and J.Y. Park, which I wouldn’t trade for anything.”

Known for being strict during recording evaluations, J.Y. Park reportedly treated Nichkhun with a rare softness. Nichkhun humorously confessed, “During evaluations where he scored each of us before recording, I pretended I couldn’t understand Korean. Then he would just say, ‘Let’s practice more,’ and leave it at that,” bringing laughter to fans.

Venturing into Acting

Nichkhun has also ventured into acting, making his Hollywood debut with the R-rated film “The Modelizer”. Upon release, the film garnered attention for its bold scenes, with Nichkhun jokingly saying, “My mom shouldn’t watch this.”
