On November 25, the finalists for the 2024 BBMAs were announced, showcasing a significant presence of HYBE artists, further proving their global popularity.
At the forefront was BTS Jimin secured nominations for Top Global K-Pop Song and Top Global K-Pop Artist with “Like Crazy,” the title track from his second solo album “FACE.” The song debuted at No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and remained charted for an impressive 17 weeks. Jungkook, with his solo single “3D” and the title track “Standing Next to You” from his solo album “GOLDEN,” aims for back-to-back wins in the Top Global K-Pop Song category. Both tracks debuted at No. 5 on the Hot 100.

Jungkook also garnered nominations in 6 categories, including Top Selling Song, Top K-Pop Album, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Global K-Pop Artist, the most for any K-pop artist this year. Notably, he became the first K-pop soloist to be nominated in the Top Song Sales Artist category.

BTS has previously won 12 BBMA trophies, including Top Social Artist (2017–2021), Top Duo/Group (2019, 2021–2022), Top Song Sales Artist (2021–2022), and Top Selling Song (2021–2022). In 2023, Jungkook added the Top Global K-Pop Song award with his single “Seven.”
SEVENTEEN earned a nomination in the Top K-Pop Touring Artist category. Their world tour “FOLLOW,” spanning 9 cities and 20 shows between July 2022 and January 2023, along with their stadium-filling “FOLLOW AGAIN” concerts in Korea and Japan, solidified their reputation as performance masters. They also topped Billboard’s mid-year Boxscore report for Top Tours among K-pop artists.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), who were nominated last year for Top Global K-Pop Artist and Top K-Pop Album, continued their upward trajectory with nominations in the Top K-Pop Album category this year.
ENHYPEN scored nominations for Top Global K-Pop Artist and Top K-Pop Touring Artist, while LE SSERAFIM received a nod in the Top Global K-Pop Song category for their first English digital single, “Perfect Night.” Rookie group ILLIT was also nominated for Top Global K-Pop Song with their track “Magnetic” from their debut mini-album, achieving this feat just 8 months after their debut.

However, the absence of NewJeans from this year’s nominations raised eyebrows. The group made headlines last year by becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform at the BBMAs just six months after their debut. Despite failing to chart on the Hot 100 or Billboard 200 this year, their songs like “How Sweet,” “Bubblegum,” “Supernatural,” and “Right Now” were included on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, making their exclusion surprising.

The Billboard Music Awards, alongside the Grammy Awards and American Music Awards, is one of the three most prestigious music award ceremonies in the U.S. This year’s nominees were determined based on album and song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement from October 13, 2023, to October 10, 2024, as well as Billboard chart performance.
