fromis_9’s performance of “Supersonic” at the 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon was finally released on January 29th.
This is the group’s last performance as a full team with 8 members. fromis_9 girls performed professionally, but Baek Ji-heon was unable to hold back her tears and ended up tearing up while covering her mouth with her hands during the ending part. Lee Chae-young also turned her head back after covering her emotional face with her hair.

Earlier on December 23rd at 6 PM, fromis_9 (Lee Saerom, Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Roh Jisun, Lee Seoyeon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, Baek Jiheon) released their final single “from” before their contracts officially conclude.
“from” is a heartfelt fan song dedicated to their fandom “FLOVER”, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. Member Song Hayoung participated in composing the song, and all members contributed to writing the lyrics together.
Formed through Mnet’s “Idol School”, fromis_9 officially debuted in 2018. Known for their bright and energetic charm, they consistently released music and gained recognition. In 2021, during the label integration of Off The Record, fromis_9 transferred to HYBE’s sub-label Pledis, sparking attention and hope for their future.
However, three years after the transfer, the group is parting ways with Pledis. Last month, Pledis announced the termination of their exclusive contracts, stating, “We have had extensive discussions with the members regarding their futures and career paths. After thorough dialogue, we mutually agreed to conclude the contracts.”
During their time with Pledis, fromis_9 released various songs, including “Talk & Talk”, “DM”, “Stay This Way”, “#menow” and “Supersonic”. Their recent track “Supersonic”, released in August, was particularly successful, charting well domestically and internationally. It was even named one of the “Best K-pop Songs of 2024” by Billboard, PopMatters, NME and Dazed.
This song came a year after their first full-length album “Unlock My World”, released in June 2023. Before their latest activities, some members expressed disappointment over the lack of promotions during fan interactions, and fans criticized the agency for allegedly neglecting the group.
Despite these challenges, fromis_9 achieved a career-high with “Supersonic”, but ultimately decided to part ways with Pledis. Their final single “from” serves as a heartfelt goodbye under Pledis and will be followed by their appearance on MBC’s “Gayo Daejejeon” on December 31, their contracts’ expiration date.
Ahead of the release, the members shared a message through Pledis, saying, “We poured our hearts into this song, writing it like a letter to FLOVER. We hope our sincerity warms a corner of your hearts during this cold winter. May it blend seamlessly into your days, and wherever you are, we hope to smile and create memories together.”
As fromis_9 bids farewell, the group’s future remains uncertain. Whether they will disband or pursue a new direction as a group or individuals is yet to be seen. From debut, agency transfer, neglect controversies and beyond, their journey has been marked by ups and downs, leaving fans curious about what lies ahead in the new year.
