G-Dragon Criticizes President Yoon Suk-yeol’s Martial Law Declaration, Reacts to Impeachment Vote

On the night of December 14, a post appeared on G-Dragon’s secondary account, featuring the words “Love meee, don’t make me cryyy” alongside a photo. The photo shows G-Dragon passionately singing in what appears to be a dressing room. The lyrics are a line from Buzz’s hit song “Coward.”

Particularly amusing is the image of G-Dragon parodying Min Kyung-hoon’s famous vocal technique by holding the microphone to his forehead, a nod to the singer’s iconic falsetto.

Previously, G-Dragon drew attention for what seemed to be a jab at the declaration of martial law. On December 4, writer and singer Ha Sang-wook posted a screenshot of his poem “Just go away on your own, please.”

This post was widely speculated to be a critique of President Yoon Suk-yeol, who caused public unrest by declaring martial law. On the night of December 3, President Yoon Suk-yeol announced the emergency measure during a live address. However, following the National Assembly’s approval of a motion to lift martial law in the early hours of December 4, he rescinded the declaration around 4:30 AM.

Amid this controversy, Ha Sang-wook’s post was interpreted as targeting the martial law situation. G-Dragon’s subsequent “like” on the post fueled speculation that he was indirectly expressing discontent.

As the public gathered in front of the National Assembly to demand President Yoon’s impeachment, large-scale protests erupted. During this time, on December 6, G-Dragon uploaded a video with the words “Love and Peace.”

Then, during the second impeachment motion vote held on the afternoon of December 14, the motion was passed with 204 votes in favor, 85 against, three abstentions, and eight invalid votes out of 300 lawmakers present. Protesters celebrated at the scene with songs like Girls’ Generation’s “Into the New World” and G-Dragon’s “Crooked.”

Amid this public jubilation, G-Dragon unexpectedly quoted Buzz’s “Coward” lyrics, writing “Don’t make me cry.” This cryptic action has sparked curiosity about its implications.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon recently released his solo tracks “POWER” and “HOME SWEET HOME,” marking his return to the music scene after seven years. He is also collaborating with producer Kim Tae-ho to launch a new variety show tentatively titled “GD and Friends,” which is set to air next year.
