On June 7th, G-Dragon drew attention by posting through his SNS the KAIST jumper and the appointment certificate.
The certificate G-Dragon shared included his name, Kwon Ji-yong, along with the statement, “This person is appointed as a Global Ambassador for KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).“
In addition, G-Dragon shared photos of himself wearing the KAIST jumper and other images related to KAIST such as robots, which caught the public’s eye.
Earlier that day, G-Dragon was appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST. This appointment aims to integrate the latest scientific technologies developed by KAIST with K-content and the cultural industry to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean culture.
G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation and KAIST plan to pursue joint research in “entertainment technology” and establish the “KAIST-Galaxy Corporation Entertainment Technology Research Center” (tentative name) within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Regarding this, G-Dragon expressed, “I am honored to be a visiting professor at KAIST, which has produced countless scientific geniuses. I look forward to a great synergy, or a ‘Big Bang’, resulting from the meeting of top science and technology experts with my expertise in entertainment.”
He added, “Actually, I was told I was a genius from a young age, but I am not. The real geniuses are the students here at KAIST. I hope we can learn from each other in the future. I want the public to know more about our country’s science and technology through me.”
