G-Dragon is searching for a new home after parting ways with YG, the company he had been with since 2006
On December 5th, Money Today reported that G-Dragon had signed an exclusive contract with Galaxy Corporation, which operates IP (Intellectual Property) management and content production.
Accordingly, an insider said, “As far as I know, G-Dragon has reached an agreement with Galaxy Corporation on details of the exclusive contract”, adding “The official announcement will be out soon”. After that, various media outlets tried to contact Galaxy Corporation but did not receive any answers.
Galaxy Corporation is an AI metaverse company established in August 2019. Staring with Mnet’s “Bookae Contest” in 2020, they have produced various comprehensive programs. Later, the company expanded their scope to commerce, production and management of entertainment programs such as “Physical: 100” and “Street Woman Fighter” through subsidiaries. Former MBC PD Jang Ho-ki, who directed “Physical: 100” is now the CCO of Galaxy’s content label “Studio 27”.
G-Dragon spent nearly half of his life under YG Entertainment. Making his debut as a member of BIG BANG in 2006, G-Dragon became a top star and received huge love after his group released various hit songs, such as “Lies”, “Last Farewell”, “Haru Haru”, “BANG BANG BANG”, etc. As a solo singer, his representative songs are “Heartbreaker”, “Black (feat. BLACKPINK’s Jennie)”, “Crooked”, “Crayon”, and “Untitled, 2014”.
However, G-Dragon recently left YG. In June, YG announced the expiry of G-Dragon’s exclusive contract, saying “We are still working together on other activities, such as advertisements, through separate contracts”, adding “We will discuss additional contracts when he resumes music activities.”
Despite making promises to make all efforts to support G-Dragon, YG immediately denied G-Dragon as their artist after the male singer was booked by the police on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
In addition, YG updated their website and deleted G-Dragon’s profile from the artist section. In short, G-Dragon and YG have ended their companionship in this way.
