G-Dragon Shares Story About Him Sleeping For 3 Days, “The Manager Kept Checking My Breath”

On February 26th, comedian Lee Yong-jin’s YouTube channel released episode 18 of the tarot-reading program “Yongtarot”, featuring G-Dragon as a guest. As G-Dragon got a tarot reading by Lee Yong-jin, he also shared various stories about his music works and daily life.

The episode was filmed before G-Dragon released his 3rd album “Übermensch” with 8 new songs. Following the successful comeback, G-Dragon will hold a world tour starting with a two-day concert in Goyang, Korea at the end of March.
Prior to his new world tour, G-Dragon revealed a story about his experience of extreme exhaustion when doing a world tour in the past. The male singer shared, “One time, I slept for three days straight. It was during a tour in the Americas, I think. I had to travel between cities, but flying back to Korea felt unnecessary so I was like, ‘I’ll just stay here’.”

He continued, “I remember falling asleep after the show but when I woke up, way too much time had passed. I was like, ‘What? That can’t be right’. Then the director filming our documentary showed me a clip”, adding “The manager had come in. I was kind of scary. He was checking my breath (to see if I was still alive). He kept coming in and out, checking over and over. When I sleep, I don’t eat, don’t drink water, don’t even go to the bathroom”.

After the “Yongtarot” video was uploaded, G-Dragon’s story immediately became a hot topic in Korean online communities. Many netizens were amazed by the fact that G-Dragon could sleep for 3 days without eating and drinking water. Some jokingly called it another “record” of the male idol.
Looking back on G-Dragon’s schedule back in the days, fans brought up videos capturing moments when the BIGBANG’s leader was extremely exhausted with pain after every show while doing the “ACT III: M.O.T.T.E” tour in 2017.
Fans reacted:
- It was very heartbreaking to see him becoming so thin and exhausted back then. I do miss him since he has not made any comeback for years but I’m happy that he is healthy both mentally and physically. I only want good things for him and that he’ll always be healthy
- It may sound like a funny story when he’s telling it now, but the situation was very serious back then. He was so skinny, to the point that I could see his bones, and looked mentally exhausted. That’s why I’m so grateful to see a healthy Jiyong laughing a lot at the moment
- He must have been so stressed out that he slept for 3 days straight
- It was very heartbreaking, he was completely exhausted during the ‘MOTTE’ era. I want to thank Jiyong for overcoming everything well and making a comeback in such a healthy condition
- It’s not a funny story to me. I already get dizzy after a 15-hour sleep, but he even slept for 3 days
- I guess it was during ‘MOTTE’ world tour. The performances were all amazing but I could not watch the behind-the-scenes moments again. He became so so skinny. He flew to a new country every day because the schedule was too tight, and a perfectionist like him doesn’t allow things to be imperfect so he has always worked hard to bring the best performances to the audience.
