This project will be accompanied by a music video created using Azure OpenAI’s Sora (produced with Microsoft). It marks a major milestone in the future of “Enter-tech”, blending space science, AI and entertainment.

According to Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon, who also serves as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST, is undertaking a cultural and artistic experiment that goes beyond music. The goal is to permanently preserve human culture in space and attempt communication with other civilizations.

Speaking at the event, G-Dragon shared, “Through this collaboration with KAIST, I’m working on breaking down the boundaries between art and science. I’m envisioning new types of performances using cutting-edge technologies such as AI avatar robots.”

Regarding the project to transmit music into space, he said, “I never imagined sending music to space, but the thought that one day my song might reach an unknown being is truly exciting. If someone’s emotions from Earth can float through space and eventually touch someone else’s heart, it could become a deep and far-reaching comfort.”

He chose the song “HOME SWEET HOME” for transmission, and explained his reason, “It’s a song that evokes a sense of nostalgia and home. It’s especially meaningful because I worked on it with my fellow BIGBANG members. Imagining us returning to the universe where BIGBANG originally came from was really fun.”

The “G-Dragon Space Music Transmission Project” will officially launch at 8 PM KST on April 9 at the KAIST Space Institute. This joint initiative by Galaxy Corporation and KAIST aims to showcase the limitless future of entertainment and technology.

Notably, this transmission is connected to the U.S. NASA’s “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence” (SETI) project, which previously gained fame for broadcasting The Beatles’ music into space. G-Dragon’s participation marks Korea’s very first involvement in a SETI initiative.

He shared, “Since last year, I’ve felt more responsibility and pressure as an artist. Though I haven’t formally studied science, I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration as a creator by seeing how AI programs construct stories. I gain energy from doing what I love. Rather than seeking answers, I find joy in exploring questions and imagining new things — and those fun ideas often turn into reality.” He hinted at his intention to actively embrace AI-based entertainment technology moving forward.

Since last year, Galaxy Corporation has been building a partnership with KAIST to lead the future of entertainment by merging tech and content that transcends time and space.

The company also recently held a private meeting with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as it accelerates efforts to globalize AI-driven enter-tech.
