Go Hyun-jung Opens Up About Deep Regret Over Her Children: “It Hurt Not Being Close”
Actress Go Hyun-jung has touched hearts by reflecting on her bittersweet memories with her children.
On April 26, Go shared an emotional post on her personal social media account, writing, “In the full bloom of spring, I looked back at some old memories,” alongside past photos. Among them, one striking image showed her holding her young son, tenderly kissing his cheek.
Following her emotional photo post, netizens responded with heartfelt comments:

Her sincerity brought comfort and reflection to many who saw it.
Previously, during an appearance on tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block, Go candidly spoke about her relationship with her children. She confessed, “I didn’t realize how painful it would be to feel distant because we didn’t live together,” and added, “What’s lost cannot be replaced,” conveying a deep sense of loss and regret.
Go Hyun-jung was once married to Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin, with whom she had a son and a daughter. However, after their divorce in 2003, the custody of the children was granted to Chairman Chung.
Reflecting on her early days of motherhood, Go shared on another broadcast, “I was so happy when I had my first child. I didn’t even suffer from morning sickness and felt incredibly light,” and added, “I wished I could have had four or even six children.”
In 2009, when she received the MBC Drama Awards Grand Prize, Go tearfully said, “I hope my children are watching,” once again revealing her deep affection for them.
Recently, Go Hyun-jung underwent surgery due to health issues and appeared noticeably thinner, causing concern among fans. However, she soon returned to the set of SBS drama The Mantis: Original Sin,” reassuring everyone by saying she would now “focus solely on acting in good health.”
