Go Woo-rim Recalls Fateful First Encounter with “Skating Legend” Kim Yuna: “She Messaged Me on My Birthday”
Go Woo-rim, a member of crossover vocal group Forestella, revealed the romantic origin of his relationship with Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yuna on the June 18 broadcast of MBC’s Radio Star. The episode, aptly titled “Mr. Voice,” also featured guests Kim Tae-kyun, Chun Rok-dam, and Lee Dae-hyung.
In a teaser clip that captured fans’ hearts, Go Woo-rim recounted his very first meeting with Kim Yuna. It all began during a 2018 ice show where Forestella performed. After the show, Kim Yuna visited backstage to receive a signed CD from the group—a brief yet unforgettable encounter for Go Woo-rim. “At the time, I didn’t think, ‘I’m going to date this person,’” he shared honestly.
But fate had other plans.
Forestella leader Cho Min-kyu later met Kim Yuna again and received a thank-you message for their performance. To Go Woo-rim’s surprise, that meeting took place on his birthday. Upon learning this, Kim Yuna sent him a birthday message via DM—a gesture Go Woo-rim described as a “fateful message” that sparked further conversations and, eventually, a deeper connection.
He later invited her to one of Forestella’s concerts, and their bond began to grow. When MC Kim Gu-ra asked about their first one-on-one meeting, Go Woo-rim bashfully hesitated, drawing laughter from the cast. The studio erupted again when he casually revealed that the couple dated in secret for four years before going public. Kim Gu-ra, amazed by his ability to keep such a high-profile relationship under wraps, joked, “You’re a human vault!”
