About

Gold Medalist (골드메달리스트, stylized as GOLD MEDALIST), is a South Korean privately held entertainment company that has been making waves in the industry since its establishment in 2019. Despite being a relatively new player in the field, the agency has quickly gained recognition for its strong lineup of actors, strategic management, and high-profile projects. Its current representative is CEO Ahn Seung-su.

Foundation and Vision

In December 2019, media outlets reported that Kim Soo-hyun will set up his own agency with his cousin Lee Sa-rang, leaving his then management company, KeyEast. Later on, Gold Medalist was founded in November 2019 by Lee Sa-rang and Kim Mi-hye, who have worked with Kim Soo-hyun since the 2009 Korean drama “Will It Snow for Christmas?” Along with Kim Soo-hyun, the company recruited actresses Seo Ye-ji and Kim Sae-ron upon its establishment.

Controversies

Recently, Gold Medalist became entangled in a series of issues after the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute accused Kim Soo-hyun of dating Kim Sae-ron for 6 years, since the late actress was in middle school. According to an interview with Kim Sae-ron’s aunt, released by the YouTube channel, Kim Soo-hyun lent Kim Sae-ron 700 million won (approx 480,000 USD) without asking for it back, but then Gold Medalist sent a debt notice to Kim Sae-ron, causing the late actress to panic.
