Box Office Queen Gong Hyo-jin to Star With Jung Joon-won in Upcoming Webtoon-Based Drama

According to a June 18 report by Sports Chosun, acclaimed actress Gong Hyo-jin is gearing up for a bold transformation in the upcoming drama A Bona Fide Killer, taking on the role of a sniper-turned-suburban mom, alongside rising actor Jung Joon-won.
A Bona Fide Killer will adapt the hit Kakao webtoon of the same name. The story follows Yoo Bo-na, once known as the elite assassin “Kingfisher,” who returns to her secret life after a three-year maternity leave. Now working as the team leader of Sales Team 3 and juggling her roles as wife and mother, Bo-na must navigate the deadly world she thought she had left behind to protect her family.

Gong Hyo-jin takes on the role of Yoo Bo-na in a genre shift from her iconic rom-com roles in When the Camellia Blooms, Jealousy Incarnate, and It’s Okay, That’s Love. This marks her return to television with a character that blends maternal vulnerability with lethal precision.

Jung Joon-won, gaining recent popularity from Resident Playbook, will play Bo-na’s husband Kwon Tae-sung, a journalist who begins to question his wife’s seemingly normal life. His blend of warmth and suspicion is expected to inject dynamic tension into the story.

With its unique mix of family life, action, and suspense, A Bona Fide Killer is already drawing buzz for its daring plot and powerful casting. The series is currently in talks for network scheduling, and anticipation is building for what could be one of the most exciting drama debuts of the coming year.
