On May 25, actress Gong Hyo-jin uploaded a new video titled “Gong Hyo-jin’s Solo Makeup Routine” on her personal YouTube channel, For Now, Gong Hyo-jin. In the video, she gave fans a detailed glimpse into her everyday beauty routine while also candidly addressing her skin concerns.
Gong Hyo-jin began by completing her base makeup, carefully applying tone-up cream all the way down to her neck. She then used powder to control oiliness, noting how tricky the product can be to handle. “I apply it to areas where my hair often touches. If you’re not careful, too much comes out, and it’s wasteful,” she explained. “Once the powder spills out, it doesn’t go back in. Then you end up using a ton, which is such a waste.”
She went on to explain her technique, “I only apply (powder) to the sides, the middle, the eyelids, and the nose. I guess I do apply it to most of my face. Just lightly, so my hair doesn’t stick—it’s comfortable.”
While applying powder foundation, Gong Hyo-jin also pointed out her natural redness, “For me, the redness is mostly on these cheeks, the space between my eyebrows, and around my nose. There are a lot of blood vessels near the nose, so it’s naturally a bit red. But I don’t do much about it.”
One particularly relatable moment came when she talked about changes in her skin. She revealed, “People who know me might notice that I didn’t originally have a mole here. I developed a slightly raised mole. They’ve spread. It’s like how bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes) spread out. I asked someone about it, and they said if you mess with it carelessly, it spreads even more.”
She added, “It seems to go away for a bit, but then it spreads more, they say. When they were tiny, I got laser treatment once, and it disappeared. But then they came back. They seem to be getting bigger. Can you see? Oh well, nothing I can do about it,” she said with a sigh.
Meanwhile, Gong Hyo-jin has recently made headlines for her personal life as well. The actress married Korean-American singer Kevin Oh in a private ceremony in New York in October 2022. Following Kevin Oh’s discharge from mandatory military service, the couple is now preparing to relocate to New York permanently. Gong Hyo-jin has been gradually sharing glimpses of their life and new home abroad, signaling the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
