Goo Hye-sun Defended by Staff, Addresses Attitude Controversy, “It’s My Freedom”
Recently, Goo Hye-sun, who was criticized for wearing a hat on a talk show despite the PD telling her to take it off, coolly addressed this “attitude controversy”.
In particular, the actress posted 15 photos of herself wearing hats at various places, along with the caption, “Hat is my freedom. While I’m at it, I’m collecting hats.”
Previously, the actress wrote, “It’s not a bad attitude or rudeness, it’s my freedom to wear a fur hat to a variety show that’s meant to be funny, not a place where you have to be polite. However, I really appreciate the criticism.”
The actress has since deleted the post, but immediately bragged about her IG afterwards. In particular, she revealed her IQ test results and patent certificate, saying, “I’m sharing the results of an IQ test (paid) that I took for fun. My invention is already a patented product, so it’s okay if it’s exposed. Thank you for your concern.”
Additionally, she published a photo of a building under construction. It is known that this building is where Goo Hye-sun will be taking care of her parents.
This building is the also one that Goo Hye-sun was building when she was previously spotted sleeping in her car in a school parking lot. It is said to be having a modern brown feel upon completion.
Meanwhile, previously on January 16, Goo Hye-sun appeared as a guest on the MBC talk show “Radio Star”. Here, host Kim Gu-ra pointed out the actress’ knit hat and long hair left loose at the sides and remarked, “Wouldn’t it look better if you brushed all your hair back?”
To this, Goo Hye-sun replied, “I was getting ready to shower today, but the boiler broke, so I couldn’t wash my hair. That’s why I’m wearing a hat.”
The actress also further revealed, “The PD suggested I remove my hat for the recording, but I can’t take it off in this situation.”
This exchange quickly became a hot topic among viewers, eliciting varied reactions, with the majority expressing disappointment in what they perceived as Goo Hye-sun being unprofessional and insincere.
In particular, many netizens criticized Goo Hye-sun’s behavior of ignoring the PD’s request, leaving comments such as “This shows a lack of respect for the program”, “She’s not putting in any effort”, “Couldn’t she have prepared at a salon?”, and “Even viewers must have found it frustrating, which is probably why the PD brought it up.”
However, several representatives in the entertainment industry have since defended the actress.
According to a broadcasting official, the atmosphere when Goo Hye-sun was filming ‘Radio Star’ was actually good, stating, “I heard that some people said it was rude to wear a hat, but this is a reaction that was completely unexpected for those who saw the set at the time. The atmosphere on set was actually good. When the PD asked her to take off her hat, I don’t think it was a strong request, but rather a suggestion made with her image in mind. After hearing her circumstances, everyone on set seemed to agree.”
Meanwhile, a management official shared, “It is known that Goo Hye-sun doesn’t actually ask her agency for her hairstyle or makeup, and she does her own hair, makeup, and coordination,” adding, “I also know that she styled herself when attending the ‘Busan International Film Festival’ last year.”
