Goo Hye Sun Reinvents Herself as a Startup CEO 5 Years After Divorce from Ahn Jae Hyun

On July 2, actress, filmmaker, and now entrepreneur Goo Hye Sun shared an update on social media revealing her progress as a startup founder. “I’m currently finalizing a partnership agreement for a hair roller and shampoo,” she wrote, thanking supporters while also sharing a gift: a new KAIST hoodie.
Earlier this year, Goo Hye Sun revealed she had received a patent for a circular hair roller—a product she designed herself. Not just a celebrity endorsement, Goo is the actual inventor behind the product, showcasing her move from artist to innovator.

She also published her official pre-venture enterprise certification, awarded by an accredited institution recognizing her startup’s innovation and entrepreneurial potential. The document, valid from May 28, 2024, to May 27, 2028, formally establishes her company as a certified pre-venture business in South Korea.
This transformation into a tech-savvy CEO adds a new chapter to Goo Hye Sun’s ever-evolving career. Originally debuting in 2004 through the MBC sitcom Nonstop 5, she became a household name through hit dramas like Pure in Heart, Boys Over Flowers, and Blood.

Alongside her business endeavors, Goo has remained committed to her education. After graduating top of her class from Sungkyunkwan University’s Film Studies program in February 2023, she went on to enroll in KAIST’s graduate program in Science Journalism in June of the same year.
With patents, partnerships, and a business license in hand, Goo Hye Sun has truly redefined what it means to be a multi-hyphenate. From Hallyu star to CEO, her story is one of resilience, reinvention, and fearless ambition.
