Japanese pop legend Hamasaki Ayumi has spoken out to refute sensational rumors linking her to tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The speculation erupted after writer Ashley St. Clair claimed in a May 30 interview with The New York Times that Elon Musk had fathered multiple children globally, including one with a J-pop star.

While Ashley did not reveal the singer’s identity, the internet quickly buzzed with theories—many pointing to Ayumi, affectionately known as “Ayu”. The reason? Ayumi, known for her high-profile relationships with Western men and for keeping the identities of her children’s fathers private, seemed to fit the ambiguous clues.

In response, the 47-year-old singer firmly denied the claims: “The father of my children is not Elon Musk.” She acknowledged why people might suspect her—even her own mother made the connection—but emphasized her desire to protect her children from misinformation: “If someone else said, ‘Isn’t it Ayu?’ I would probably think the same. But different is different… I’m denying this because I don’t want my kids Googling their origin one day.”
Hamasaki Ayumi, born in 1978, has been a dominant figure in Japanese entertainment since the 1990s. Although she began her career as a model and actress, her breakout came in music with hit singles like “Poker Face” and “You”. Her first album, “A Song for XX”, topped the Oricon charts and sold over half a million copies, launching her into superstardom.

From 1999 to 2008, she consistently released chart-topping singles, becoming the first female artist to have eight albums debut at number one on Oricon. With over 1.4 million Instagram followers and an enduring legacy, she continues to defy age and inspire fans. Ayumi is currently on her “Asia Tour 2025: I am Ayu – ep.II”, proving her passion for music is as vibrant as ever.

Despite wild rumors, Ayumi’s grace and clarity reaffirm her status—not just as the queen of J-pop, but as a dedicated artist and mother.
