On June 12, a press screening and media conference for the film The Devil You Know was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. Director Hyun Woo-sung and actors Han Chae-young, Jang Eui-soo, and Kim Hye-eun were in attendance.
Describing her character Yoo-jung, Han Chae-young said, “She’s someone who lives a content life—with a job, a daughter, and a husband. But after meeting a woman named Sun-hee, her life turns completely upside down. The story follows her journey as she tries to reclaim her life after that encounter.”
She added, “It’s been eight years. My last film was Star Next Door, which was a comedy. The last time I did a dark genre like this was 20 years ago in Wild Card. When I received this script after so long, I really wanted to take it on.”
Han Chae-young continued, “I was curious what kind of movie this would become if we filmed it in 2024. The director was brimming with confidence, and I was inspired by that. It gave me the confidence to join the project as well.”
The Devil You Know is a sociopathic thriller set to release on June 20. It explores the deep, dark sides of human nature through a catastrophic web of relationships: Yoo-jung (Han Chae-young), who believes in goodwill; Kang-soo (Jang Eui-soo), who rejects trust; and Sun-hee (Hyun Woo-sung), who manipulates people. In this world, the only way out is to kill—or be killed.
