Han Ji-min Praises IU’s Acting in “When Life Gives You Tangerines”: “Astonishing Performance”

On June 13, Han Ji-min appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel “Baek Eun-ha’s JuGoBatGo”. During the episode titled “Why Han Ji-min Was Moved by the Line ‘Eun-ho ya…’”, she discussed memorable acting performances that left a strong impression on her.
She highlighted IU’s portrayal in “When Life Gives You Tangerines”, where IU took on dual roles as Ae-sun and Geum-myeong. “I first knew IU as a singer and watched some of her earlier works, but when I saw this series, I thought, ‘Wow, I’ve been acting all my life, and I couldn’t have done that at her stage.’ I had a similar feeling when I watched ‘My Mister’ too,” Han confessed.

“It’s just not something easy,” she added. “To go from teenage roles to a mother, to various layered characters—she did it so naturally. I found myself clapping while watching. It was inspiring.”
Although the two actresses don’t have a personal connection, Han shared a brief encounter with IU: “There was a time we received awards at the same event and were seated next to each other. I was so happy. I remember thinking, ‘I’m sitting next to IU!’ It was a fun moment.”

IU debuted as a singer in 2008 and transitioned into acting with her first drama “Dream High” in 2011. Since then, she’s earned critical acclaim through performances in “You Are the Best!”, “The Producers”, and especially “My Mister”. Her dual-role challenge in “When Life Gives You Tangerines” once again cemented her status as a versatile actress. IU is also set to appear in the upcoming drama “The 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife”, slated to air next year.
