EXID’s Hani Finds Healing in Yoga Amid Fiancé Yang Jae-woong’s Hospital Scandal

On May 22, EXID’s Hani posted on social media, “Just do as much as you can. Those words felt so comforting that I came to love yoga.” She accompanied the post with several photos of herself practicing yoga.
In the photos, Hani is focused on her yoga practice, wearing form-fitting workout clothes and exuding a serene expression as she calms her mind. She wrote, “It’s okay to just do as much as you can? For me, ‘doing only as much as I can’ has always been difficult. Of course, yoga involves important poses, and mastering them matters. But for me, yoga is a time to practice only what I can manage.”

She added, “I’m gradually learning how to be kind to myself. Today, I breathed, I flowed, and that was enough.”
Following the death of a patient at Yang Jae-woong’s hospital in May 2024, Hani suspended her public activities. The case involved a 33-year-old woman, referred to as A, who died from suspected pseudo-intestinal obstruction 17 days after being admitted for diet pill addiction treatment. Allegations emerged that the hospital neglected her severe abdominal pain and restrained her instead of providing proper care.

The patient’s family filed charges against Yang Jae-woong and six staff members for abandonment resulting in death and professional negligence, triggering investigations by the police and the National Human Rights Commission.
Although the incident occurred in May, it only became public through an SBS report in July 2024. Public outrage intensified when it was revealed that Yang Jae-woong had announced his upcoming wedding just four days after the patient’s death. As speculation grew over Hani’s possible knowledge of the incident, she withdrew from scheduled appearances, including a variety show, and faced online backlash.

In the wake of the controversy, Hani left the web program Review Four Cuts, while Yang Jae-woong stepped down from MBC Radio’s Starry Night and their YouTube channel Yang Bros’ Mental World. Their September 2024 wedding was indefinitely postponed, with Yang Jae-woong’s agency, Mystic Story, confirming the decision on September 3 while affirming the couple’s relationship remains intact.
