Heartbreaking Final Message of Miss Tourism Myanmar 2018 Found Dead After Earthquake
On April 3, the body of Miss Tourism Myanmar 2018, Sili Mee, was found beneath the rubble of the Sky Villa condominium in Mandalay, Myanmar. Her sudden passing due to a devastating earthquake has deeply saddened the public.
Before her death, on March 24, Sili Mee shared a touching message on her personal social media, “As I grow older, I prefer a more private life.” She also posted words of encouragement, writing, “I just want to see the people around me become better and happier,” and proudly showed her certificate from a basic flower arrangement course. These posts reflected her youthful, colorful life — tragically cut short.
Sili Mee rose to fame after winning Miss Tourism Myanmar in 2018. She represented Myanmar in the Miss Tourism World 2018 pageant and later at the Miss Tourism World Intercontinental 2019 in China.
She was found deceased under the debris, dressed in a white shirt and pants, still holding her handbag. Blessed Entertainment, the organizer of Miss Tourism Myanmar, confirmed the news and extended condolences to her family. Her body has since been transported to Yangon, where her funeral will be held in accordance with religious customs.
According to the latest reports from Myanmar’s authorities, the earthquake has killed at least 2,487 people, injured over 3,200, and left around 170 missing. It is one of the most catastrophic natural disasters Myanmar has faced in recent years.
