HINAPIA was a 5-member girl group, with 4 out of 5 members (Minkyeung, Yaebin, Gyeongwon, and Eunwoo) previously debuted as members of the girl group Pristin under Pledis Entertainment.

The group name, “HINAPIA”, is an abbreviation of “Hi New Amazing Utopia”. Their official color was Red Dahlia (Pantone 19-1555), which carries the meaning of “your love makes me more beautiful”. Meanwhile, the fandom of HINAPIA was named UBY, which combines the word “utopia” and “by your side”.

Unfortunately, the girl group disbanded on August 21, 2020 due to difficulties after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Career

On October 20, 2019, OSR Entertainment announced the debut of their 1st, which would include 4 former PRISTIN members, namely Minkyeung, Gyeongwon, Eunwoo and Yaebin, and one more trainee.

On October 23, the group’s social media accounts were opened, revealing their name to be HINAPIA.

From October 27 to 29, concept photos of the 5 members were posted, revealing the “hidden trainee” to be Bada, who was known for her dancing skills. 

On October 30, the group appeared on TV for the 1st time, performing the song “Drip” on the music show Show Champion. The group then made their official debut on November 3 with the single “Drip” and the album “New Start”. 

With the release of “Drop”, HINAPIA was able to enter the World Digital Songs Sales at number 18, and subsequently nominated for Best Super Rookie at the 2019 K-Champ Awards.

In February 2020, it was reported that HINAPIA is planning to release their 2nd album in early 2020. However, the group stayed silent for 6 months afterwards, before announcing their disbandment and the members’ contract termination on August 21 of the same year. 

The reason was cited to be their company being in a difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
