Hong Sang-soo & Kim Min-hee Spotted with Newborn, Mystery Woman by Their Side Sparks Buzz
On April 25, filmmaker Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee were recently seen enjoying a quiet stroll with their newborn son at Misa Lake Park in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.
Eyewitnesses shared, “Kim Min-hee was gently cradling the baby while Hong Sang-soo smiled warmly at them. There was also a middle-aged woman by their side, and she didn’t seem to be just a passerby.”
Speculations quickly followed. Could she be Kim Min-hee’s mother, a postnatal caregiver, or perhaps a nanny? Given that Kim Min-hee reportedly gave birth only a few weeks ago, many believe the woman is likely a close family member providing support.
The couple is known to be living together in an apartment in Hanam, despite Hong Sang-soo still being legally married. The relationship between Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee began during the filming of Right Now, Wrong Then in 2015 and was publicly acknowledged in 2017 when Hong Sang-soo declared, “We love each other,” during a press screening for On the Beach at Night Alone.
Since then, Kim Min-hee has become Hong Sang-soo’s muse, starring in numerous films directed by him including The Day After, Grass, Hotel by the River, The Woman Who Ran, Introduction, In Front of Your Face, The Novelist’s Film, In Water, and In Our Day.
Kim Min-hee reportedly gave birth to their child on April 8. Meanwhile, Hong Sang-soo’s upcoming 33rd feature film, In Our Day, is set to hit theaters on May 14.
