The couple is currently participating in a reality program where they swap lifestyles with young locals in Africa. However, the experience proved emotionally overwhelming for Xu Yiyang.
Due to significant language barriers, Xu Yiyang struggled to express her needs and feelings during filming. In a heartbreaking phone call with Huang Zitao, she was seen sobbing uncontrollably, her face buried in her hands, emotionally exhausted and feeling helpless.

Speculation about the couple’s romantic involvement began in 2020, when Xu Yiyang was still an artist under Huang Zitao’s company, L.TAO Entertainment. The pair officially went public on July 14, 2024, after years of romantic hints. Their love story reached a new height when Huang Zitao proposed in a lavish ceremony in Yunnan, China, in April 2024, complete with thousands of pink flowers, Xu Yiyang’s favorite.
The couple legally registered their marriage on December 2, 2024, and Huang Zitao has since revealed plans for a 2025 wedding. In a playful gesture to fans, he promised to host three special tables for loyal supporters, chosen via a lucky draw.
