The 2006 film “Sunflower” has been re-released as a remastered director’s cut 18 years after its original premiere, and the cast gathered to greet audiences at a special event.
On November 30, lead and supporting cast members, including Kim Rae-won, Kim Hae-sook, Huh Lee-jae, Kim Byung-wook, and Han Jung-soo, appeared on stage to thank viewers for their continued love for “Sunflower” over the years.
Director Kang Seok-beom expressed his delight, “It’s wonderful to reunite with the actors who poured their hearts into this film during the summer of 2006.” Lead actor Kim Rae-won added, “It’s amazing to see the film re-released after 18 years. Thank you for coming to watch it. I hope you all have a warm and happy holiday season.”
Actress Kim Hae-sook shared her emotional sentiments, “It’s touching to be doing a stage greeting for Sunflower after 18 years. Thank you for not forgetting this film. I hope you can once again feel the emotional impact of Sunflower.”
Huh Lee-jae, whose appearance after such a long time drew significant attention, said, “I’m still in disbelief that the film is being re-released 18 years later. I’m grateful for the chance to stand here again. Thank you to everyone who came to see the film, even if you’ve already watched it before. Please continue to love Sunflower.”
Actor Kim Byung-wook, who played an antagonist, humorously remarked, “I’ve endured 18 years of being cursed at for my role. Please keep showing your love for the film. I’m so happy to meet you all again.” Meanwhile, a noticeably gaunt Han Jung-soo thanked the audience, “I was worried not many people would come, but I’m grateful to see such a big turnout.”

After returning as the lead in the 2014 drama “You Are a Gift,” she vanished once more, only to reappear after 8 years for Sunflower’s stage event. Her noticeably different appearance has sparked a wave of reactions online.
