Hwang Kwang-hee Accused by Friends Over Attitude on Variety Show: Celebrity Syndrome?

Hwang Kwang-hee found himself hilariously roasted by his friends and co-hosts on the July 10 episode of KBS2’s Problem Child in House, as they jokingly accused him of having “celebrity syndrome” off-camera.
The segment quickly turned into a playful intervention, with MC Hong Jin-kyung kicking things off: “When I try to call Kwang-hee for casting, it’s like contacting a secret agent. He never answers the first call!” She mocked his call-screening habit, saying, “Why even set your phone to block the first call? It’s like you’re on a covert mission.”

Kwang-hee explained his phone is always on sleep mode, a leftover habit from his idol days when company calls gave him anxiety. But Hong fired back: “You’re not an idol anymore. Who’s chasing you now?”
Actor and longtime friend Lee Joon joined in, recalling how Kwang-hee once gave him image management advice, only to shout “Hey, you XX!” once filming began. He added, “He even walked around with an A4 paper covering his face today!” to which Kwang-hee responded that he was saving the moment for the show. Lee didn’t stop there, joking: “You can’t hang with him for more than two hours. After that, your ears start ringing. This show is the only way I get to see him lately!”

While the teasing was all in good fun, the segment highlighted Kwang-hee’s comedic timing and self-awareness. The self-deprecating humor and warm banter reminded viewers why he remains a fan-favorite in Korean variety television—celebrity quirks and all.
