On Jan 13th, ADOR announced that it had filed an injunction against NewJeans members for “Preservation of Management Agency Status and Prohibition of Independent Advertising Contracts”. This move was made to assert the agency’s status as outlined in the exclusive contract until the first trial verdict on the validity of the contract is delivered.

Regarding the injunction, ADOR explained, “This decision was made to prevent confusion and damage to third parties, such as advertisers, due to the members unilaterally declaring the termination of the exclusive contract and attempting to independently contact and sign contracts with advertisers.”

After wrapping up their Japanese schedule in early December last year, NewJeans left the dorm provided by ADOR. While they acted as partners with ADOR for contract-related matters, they reportedly used individual transportation to gather at ADOR for schedules and returned home individually after finishing their commitments.

It has also been reported that, following NewJeans’ departure from the dorm, a HYBE employee attached a body camera to inspect the dorm, preparing for further developments. Meanwhile, many performance directors and managers who previously worked with NewJeans under ADOR have reportedly resigned recently.

With this ongoing situation, the court’s decision is expected to significantly impact the future of both NewJeans and ADOR.

Meanwhile, NewJeans’ scheduled activities have been disrupted due to the dispute with their agency, and no concrete plans for this year have been announced yet. ADOR stated that they had already planned activities for the year, including a full-length album release and fan meetings. They expressed a desire to communicate with the members fully.

Fans are eagerly awaiting how and when NewJeans will reconnect with them.
