Recently, some comments made by HYBE employees on an online forum for business workers called Blind, which require verified company emails to sign up, have been gaining massive attention.
In particular, in one post on the forum, a HYBE employee attempted to discern if Min Hee-jin is truly “irreplaceable” by analyzing how NewJeans may be like without her.

Under the comments section of such post, various employees agreed with the author’s point and revealed their own perspectives. Noticeably, in some of the comments, it was implied that girl groups don’t matter as much as boy groups in HYBE, and criticisms about the girl groups’ skills to the point of needing more practice also appeared.
Below are some comments made by HYBE employees under the aforementioned post:
- The girl groups you mentioned do need to practice more
- HYBE’s mains are not girl groups anyway. It’s just a testing period
- If you look at HYBE’s current girl groups, can’t you see what will happen to NewJeans if Min Hee-jin left? I mean, just look at LE SSERAFIM’s skill and plagiarism controversies
Reading these comments, many Korean netizens were perplexed that employees would make comments like this, and criticized the company’s perspective.
