On the morning of December 19th, DongA Ilbo had an interview with Hyun Bin for the release of his new movie “Harbin” at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Appearing in a dandy, Hyun Bin entered the interview room with a bright expression and his signature dimple smile.
“Harbin” tells the intense pursuit and suspicion surrounding those heading to Harbin in 1909 with only one purpose and people chasing after them. Led by Ahn Jung-geun (Hyun Bin), the story begins when Woo Deok-soon (Park Jung-min), Kim Sang-hyun (Jo Woo-jin), Gong Bu-in (Jeon Yeo-bin), Choi Jae-hyung (Yoo Jae-myung) and Lee Chang-seob (Lee Dong-wook) join him as independence activists. To punish Ito Hirobumi, they head to Harbin and face challenges, such as the pursuit of the Japanese military.
Regarding the movie, Hyun Bin shared, “After filming wraps, the filming team normally asks for actors’ thoughts. The execution scene was done on the last filming day. While sharing how I felt, I just sobbed. The feeling lingered in my for a long time. It would suddenly burst for a while then disappear and repeat for several days. I guess the pressure on my shoulders was much heavier than I thought. Suddenly putting down the pressure, I felt so overwhelmed.”
When asked if he would show the movie to his son, the actor shared, “I will show it to my son. I completed this project at the same time my son was born. The day after the movie was examined for screening, the kid was born. When I couldn’t stay next to my child, I was playing the character Ahn Jung-geun. I will definitely show it to him when he can watch the movie and think about it. I will explain to him that Dad was playing such a great character when he was not next to him”.
Also, the actor asked reporters during the interview, “At what age should I show the movie to my son? I’m not sure about that. Haha”. The reporters responded, “When he’s in grade 6th of elementary school”, “in high school”, etc., then Hyun Bin smiled and reacted, “I got it”.
Hyun Bin’s new movie “Harbin” will premiere on December 24th.
