ILLIT Deepfake Creator Sentenced to Jail, Belift Lab Declares Zero Tolerance
Belift Lab, agency of rookie girl group ILLIT, announced on June 30 that several individuals behind deepfake videos of the group have been arrested and sentenced to prison. The agency emphasized its zero-tolerance policy and vowed continued legal action.
In a statement on Weverse, Belift Lab stressed that even anonymous users on platforms like Telegram can be tracked and punished through international cooperation. They also confirmed separate criminal complaints against individuals who posted sexually offensive comments about ILLIT.
The agency is actively monitoring domestic and global platforms, including Naver, YouTube, and X (Twitter), and is filing regular complaints for defamation, false information, and harassment. Belift reiterated it will pursue all legal avenues without leniency or settlements.
Fans are encouraged to report violations through HYBE’s reporting center as Belift Lab continues to protect its artists from malicious content.

In addition to our regular legal complaints, we are also pursuing frequent legal action against individuals who violate our artist’s rights. Aside from the previously announced cases, we have filed separate criminal complaints against individuals who posted publicly sexual insults targeting the artist. The identities and charges of these individuals have already been confirmed, and the cases have been forwarded to the prosecution. We will continue to make every effort to ensure severe punishment for those currently under investigation and legal proceedings.
Furthermore, multiple individuals responsible for creating deepfake videos of the artist have been arrested and sentenced to prison. Even if these acts are carried out through anonymous social media platforms like Telegram, perpetrators can be traced through international judicial cooperation. We are actively and promptly cooperating with investigative authorities to ensure strict punishment and the protection of our artist’s rights.
