ILLIT Reflect on “Hardest Time” Since Debut: Is It Related to Min Hee-jin or NewJeans?

Recently, ILLIT members appeared on Minju’s show, “Minju’s Pink Cabinet”, the members were asked about their “hardest time” from the past year. Since the girl group has only recently celebrated their 1st year anniversary, the question basically asked about ILLIT’s toughest challenge since debut. 

Upon hearing the question, members showed flustered expressions and started exchanging glances, at the same time all remaining silent. They then tried to laugh it off and joked about how the atmosphere got serious all of a sudden. Then, member Wonhee eventually responded, citing the rigorous practice sessions as particularly taxing. 

However, as the video of ILLIT’s reactions to their “hardest time” emerged, many people, fans and the public alike, couldn’t help but think about their controversies in relation to fellow K-pop group NewJeans, particularly allegations of concept plagiarism and being told to not greet NewJeans member Hanni. 

As a result, netizens left various comments pitying ILLIT for all the difficulties they went through, especially the unwarranted hatred from Min Hee-jin and NewJeans’ conflict with HYBE. One netizens commented, “They all thought of the same thing huh..”, while another said, “The silence when they were asked what was the most hardest moment they’ve faced says a lot. I can’t imagine how much they struggle in their young ages. Happy 1st Year and counting ILLIT. Please know that there are people you supports you and loves you more than people who hated you.
