“In Crisis with Single-Digit Ratings” Yoo Jae-suk Recycles ‘Infinite Challenge’ from 16 Years Ago
On March 22, MBC’s variety show “Hangout with Yoo” will bring back the legendary variety segment “Infinite Challenge – Surprise Attack” after 16 years. Revived in 2025 to support small business owners struggling amid recent economic hardships, “Surprise Attack” returns with Yoo Jae-suk as the royal inspector, leading the team in putting into action the motto: “Let’s support them by eating.”
Originally featured in “Infinite Challenge” in 2009, Park Myung-soo’s “Surprise Attack” involved visiting struggling restaurants during an economic downturn and completing missions to help them reach a target sales amount through eating. While General Park led the attacks back then, it’s Inspector Yoo who steps up in the 2025 version.
The released photos show the departure ceremony of Inspector Yoo and the Secret Inspection Team, raising anticipation. Inspector Yoo declares the launch of “Surprise Attack” with bold energy, while the team – armed with empty stomachs – exudes morale high enough to reach the sky, making viewers curious about the mission scene.
Inspector Yoo and the team go through two rounds of intense eating, waging war against food. They even recruit friends with big appetites to prepare thoroughly. With Inspector Yoo shouting “The time has come!”, they set off on their undercover mission. Visiting the restaurants without the owners’ knowledge, they are determined to bring back smiles to the owners’ faces, drawing attention to whether this “Surprise Attack” will succeed.
