IU Explains Why She Refused Collabs with International Artists

Previously on December 18, Billboard publish a video titled “IU Opens Up About Being A Solo Artist, The Charm Of K-Pop | Billboard Global No. 1s”. 

In this video, IU, who was named as Billboard Korea’s “No. 1 artist of the year”, discussed the pros and cons of being a solo artist, her openness to collaborating with international artists, and more.

Particularly, when asked if she has any plans to collaborate with international artists, IU admitted that she was reluctant to do so in the past, despite receiving numerous offers. 

“I have received many amazing offers in the past, but I felt a little vague about collaborating with artists who spoke different languages. So, I turned down the opportunities”, the female idol said.

However, according to IU, her perspective regarding such offers have changed.

“But now I don’t think that way. I’m much more open to working with global artists,” IU commented, adding, “Please feel free to reach out to me.” It seems that fans can start to expect international collaborations from IU in the near future!

On the other hand, in the same interview, IU also mentioned the projects she has in plan for 2025.

To be specific, IU started off by discussing her acting projects, asking fans to look forward to the upcoming Netflix series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” and describing another project, “Wife of a 21st-century Prince”, as a “colorful and fun drama”.

She also admitted that in 2025, her focus will be mostly acting, but she has also started working on new music to keep fans from waiting too long.
