IU Shows Affection for Younger Brother with Luxury Gifts and Sassy Sibling Banter

Singer-actress IU recently melted hearts and sparked laughter online after sharing a playful and affectionate interaction with her younger brother during a YouTube vlog. The video, which resurfaced through Shorts and clips from her personal YouTube channel “이지금”, showed the star treating her brother to a birthday shopping spree during their trip to Los Angeles, USA. From splurging on luxury goods to dishing out blunt but caring “older sister” advice, the two displayed peak sibling chemistry.

While browsing stores in LA’s Little Tokyo area, IU made it clear she hadn’t forgotten her brother’s November birthday.  “I didn’t get you anything back then, so pick something out now,” she said, only to be met with her brother’s cheeky response who pointed at a revving luxury car and said, “That one.” IU laughed this off, saying, “You can buy that yourself. There’s nothing I can buy you here, they are all too expensive”, before nagging her brother on his clothes.

Later on, IU admitted, “I find more joy in giving gifts than buying things for myself.” She also bought her brother clothes from a luxury brand and various accessories as gifts. Her brother, clearly moved by such a gesture, quipped, “You’ve taught me that money can’t buy happiness, but it can make someone else happy”. Then, in true sibling fashion, he danced on the street out of excitement, prompting IU to shout, “You’re so embarrassing!” —a moment that left fans laughing and calling the video “the realest sibling content.”

On the other hand, in a past interview, when asked what IU’s biggest flaw is, her brother playfully responded, “Her humanity,” catching the singer off guard. Fans have since flooded online communities with reactions like, “IU’s brother is hilarious,” “Their bond is so real,” and “Can she adopt me too?”, and “I envy the brother for having a rich older sister”.
