IU has once again warmed hearts with her thoughtful gesture toward her young co-star.
On April 3, the mother of child actress Shin Chae-rin shared an emotional post on social media, revealing that IU had sent a surprise bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry) truck to the set of Netflix’s “When Life Gives You Tangerines.“ The gift came at the end of filming, leaving both the young actress and her family deeply touched.

“Our first-ever bungeoppang truck in life,” Chae-rin’s mother wrote. “IU unnie (older sister) sent this thoughtful truck to Chae-rin as filming wrapped. The message and photos on the truck were so moving, not a single detail was missed.”
She added that IU kept the gesture a surprise until after their time together, jokingly writing, “She didn’t say a word while we were together, then surprised us by sending this… What is this if not an attempt to make me cry?”
Photos of the truck showed IU’s warm and personal messages, including, “Everyone’s beloved Shin Chae-rin. Chae-rin-ah, you’ve worked so hard. Thank you,” and “To the aunties and uncles who ate bungeoppang today, please love Chae-rin even more!”

Chae-rin portrayed the young version of Yang Geum-myung, the eldest daughter of IU’s character Oh Ae-soon. Her mother shared that IU took great care of Chae-rin during filming and always treated her with love and respect.
“We’ve received many gifts before and have always been grateful, but the bungeoppang truck was beyond imagination… Speechless,” she wrote. “Thank you for giving us a gift we’ll never forget in our lifetime.”
IU’s thoughtful gesture once again proves why she’s not only admired for her talent, but also deeply loved for her genuine heart on and off screen.
