IVE Sends Condolence Wreath for Elementary Student Lost in Garbage Truck Accident

On October 30, a tragic accident claimed the life of seven-year-old A when a garbage truck, which had unexpectedly reversed after mounting the sidewalk in an apartment complex in the Buk-gu district of Gwangju, struck her while she was walking home from school.
On October 31, a portrait of A smiling brightly was placed at her memorial. Her grieving family expressed their heartache, insisting that such a tragedy should never happen again.
A’s uncle shared bittersweet memories of his young niece’s love for the popular girl group, IVE. He reminisced about how she enjoyed collecting IVE’s photo cards and how he had promised to take her to one of their concerts. “It breaks my heart that I couldn’t keep that promise,” he said tearfully.

The members of IVE, upon hearing the news, reached out in a heartfelt way. The group sent a condolence wreath to A’s memorial site with a message that read, “We pray for the peace of the deceased’s soul.”
A’s mother, visibly moved by the tribute, expressed her gratitude, “My child was a fan of IVE. Although we are overwhelmed with grief, we are thankful.”
The police are currently investigating the accident. They have detained the truck driver, a man in his 40s, and are conducting a thorough investigation under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents, focusing on whether any safety regulations were neglected in this tragic incident.
