Jang Shin-young Rushed to ER Before Drama Comeback Following Husband’s Affair Controversy

Actress Jang Shin-young is making headlines as she prepares for her highly anticipated return to acting after a three-year break.
In the June 6 episode of KBS 2TV’s Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, the actress revealed she was recently rushed to the emergency room due to severe anxiety as filming for her comeback drama began.
“I was so nervous about returning to acting that I ended up going to the ER,” Jang admitted. The moment was both physically and emotionally intense, but it was a message from her son that gave her the strength to press on. “You said you’d do your best, so stay strong and go for it. I believe in you,” he told her. With a smile, Jang added that he jokingly asked, “Mom, you haven’t lost your touch, right?”
Boosting her morale further, she shared that the drama’s director had told her she was the top pick for the role, giving her renewed confidence.

The episode also featured Olympic swimmer Park Tae-hwan, who impressed viewers by eating 17 slices of bread while exercising mid-meal, his method for maintaining just 8% body fat.
Jang Shin-young’s return comes on the heels of a difficult chapter in her personal life. Her husband, Kang Kyung Joon, faced an affair scandal in 2023, being sued for ₩50 million KRW by a man who alleged Kang had an affair with his wife. The case, backed by KakaoTalk messages, was settled in July 2024. In October of the same year, Jang addressed the emotional impact on My Little Old Boy, revealing her decision to forgive Kang and stay together for their children.
As she returns to the screen with renewed purpose and the unwavering support of her son, Jang Shin-young’s journey stands as a powerful testament to resilience and grace under pressure. Fans are eager to see her back in action, both as an actress and a figure of quiet strength.
