Jennie Opens Up About Comeback Struggles: “No One Ever Asks Me to Join Dance Challenges”
On January 30, a video featuring Jennie as a guest was uploaded to the YouTube channel “SsookSsook,” where she candidly shared her thoughts ahead of her return to the music scene.
In the video, Jennie appeared as the first guest on “SsookSsook” and revealed, “I’ve spent a year preparing this album and working hard on the music. But the world has changed so much. These days, simply releasing a song doesn’t guarantee that people will listen to it.”
She continued, “There’s so much content coming out from everywhere. I want to do something that my fans will enjoy, but I don’t know exactly what that is. At my company, we have meetings every day to figure it out. Since there are more young people in the industry now, I find it hard to keep up with their trends.”
The “SsookSsook” production team suggested promoting her new song through a dance challenge. However, Jennie responded, “I’ve never really done a proper challenge before. No one has ever invited me to do one,” expressing her disappointment.
She also asked, “I’m really curious—how do they all end up doing challenges together?” The production team explained, “It usually happens in the hallways of music show waiting rooms.”
Jennie humorously responded, “But every time I go, the hallway is empty. Am I just going on the wrong days? I was hoping someone would ask me to join, but no one ever does,” expressing her frustration in a lighthearted way.
Meanwhile, Jennie is set to release her new single “Love Hangover” on January 31, followed by her first full solo album “Ruby” on March 7.
