Jennie Shares Her Empowering Journey Ahead of Solo Comeback: “I’m Proud of Who I Am”

On March 5, Jennie appeared on Apple Music’s popular radio show “The Zane Lowe Show,” where she opened up about the process of creating her upcoming album, “Ruby,” sharing behind-the-scenes moments and reflecting on her personal growth. She discussed how the album has helped her experience change, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and embracing her own worth.
Jennie shared, “I understand my value and live according to it. I’m not afraid to challenge myself. I love myself. I am worthy. I am proud of who I am,” highlighting her inner strength and self-assurance.
The most significant lesson Jennie learned while working on the album was “understanding my value.” Unlike in the past, she felt confident during this process, explaining, “This time, I had faith that I could do well. I focused on the present, worried less, and tried to enjoy the moment.”

Jennie also spoke about the inspiration behind her track “Start a War,” describing it as a song meant to remind listeners of the people they want to protect – whether friends, family, or loved ones. It carries a message that can resonate with anyone.
As for the album title “Ruby,” Jennie revealed, “When I lived in New Zealand at 11, I realized I wanted to create this identity. Over the years, I worked toward that dream, and that’s why I chose ‘Ruby’ for the album title.”

Jennie sees the album as not only a reflection of herself but also as the beginning of a new chapter in her life. She mentioned that one of the inspirations for the album came from Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” stating, “Watching that, I decided to make the album the way I wanted.” She also gave insight into the creation of one of her favorite tracks, “F.T.S.”
In addition, during the interview, Jennie also opened up about her past romantic relationships and the close bond she shares with the other BLACKPINK members. Through this candid conversation, Jennie reflects not only on her personal journey but also on the deeper meanings behind her album “Ruby,” highlighting her growth as both an artist and an individual.
