At midnight on March 7th, BLACKPINK’s Jennie officially released her solo album “Ruby” with the title song “Like Jennie”. Previously, she had raised high expectations from fans by teasing a small part of the song’s catchy melody in a video. Many believed that it would definitely become another hit song.
However, a plagiarism controversy arose following the release of the music video. In particular, many pointed out that “Like Jennie” melody sounds similar to the song “Rani’s Intro Theme” in the movie “Bollywood Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” starring famous actress Alia Bhatt.
Although nothing has yet to be confirmed, the controversy has caused some Jennie fans to send a wave of anger toward Alia Bhatt. On X (formerly Twitter), numerous posts have surfaced sharing images of the actress along with insults and body-shaming comments. Netizens later criticized these extreme fans’ excessive actions for targeting an unrelated artist with negativity.
Alia Bhatt is one of the top actresses in India. She made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with the movie “Student of the Year” then quickly rose to stardom and gained recognition with her performance in “Highway” (2014), “Raazi” (2018) and “Ganggubai Kathiawadi” (2022). The actress has won numerous prestigious awards, including Best Actress at the Filmfare Award. Beyond acting, Alia has also succeeded in film production and fashion, making her one of the most influential stars in India.

Previously, “Like Jennie” garnered attention as soon as the teaser was introduced, thanks to its catchy melody and bold lyrics directed at haters. Especially, the rap line, “Haters don’t like Jennie because they can never be Jennie,” stirred excitement within the fandom, making fans eagerly look forward to the achievements of Jennie’s first full album.
