Actress Jeon Hye-bin recently shared an unforgettable story about the day she got engaged, one that involved romance, heartfelt gestures, and an unexpected prank that nearly changed everything.
In a video uploaded on April 3 to Moon Ji-in’s YouTube channel “Ji-in’s Acquaintance,” Jeon appeared as a guest and reminisced about the moment her now-husband, a dentist, proposed to her during a trip to southern France.
Jeon explained, “After wrapping up a drama, I’d usually travel for a month. While filming Why, Mr. Poong-sang?, I was dating my husband, who was a pay doctor at the time. He somehow got time off, and we took our first long trip together to the south of France. I thought, ‘If we end up getting married, this will be a glimpse of what life might be like.’”
She recalled the proposal vividly, “We rented an Airbnb overlooking a sea of red rooftops at sunset, it was picture-perfect. He turned on a beam projector and showed clips he’d secretly recorded of my close friends, sharing messages and memories of us. They weren’t even sure about him yet! And then, he proposed. We’d had a lot of wine, and I was so overwhelmed with joy that I cried and said yes.”
But the night didn’t end there. Jeon Hye-bin decided to play a prank on her fiancé, unknowingly setting the stage for a heartwarming moment. “I saw people joking about April Fools’ Day on KakaoTalk, so I thought I’d join in. I told him, ‘Now that you’ve proposed, I can’t keep it hidden anymore, I have a daughter.’”
At first, he was skeptical. Jeon continued the joke, “I told him my youngest aunt was raising her, that she was three years old, and I’d given birth during a hiatus.”
The next morning, however, her husband’s reaction left her speechless. “I passed out drunk but woke up to him pacing around. He said, ‘I thought about it all night… If she’s your daughter, she must be beautiful. Let’s raise her together.’ That’s when I realized, it was still April Fools’ Day. I was so touched.”
