On the May 19 episode of Shin Dong-yup’s YouTube show Jjanhan Hyung, actress Jo Bo-ah opened up about why she’s become less close with male actors—and it all started with a heart emoji.

Known for her bubbly, energetic personality, Jo Bo-ah shared that she used to casually send heart emojis to co-stars without a second thought. “I once said, ‘Okay, see you that day♥’ and thought nothing of it,” she laughed. “But he misunderstood.”

Shin Dong-yup commented, “People with natural aegyo don’t distinguish—whether it’s men or women, it just comes out.” Jo Bo-ah agreed, adding that in the entertainment industry, it can get tricky: “People don’t like seeing you act cute with the opposite sex, so naturally, I started keeping more distance from male colleagues.”

Actor Park Byung-eun, also a guest, chimed in: “I misunderstood too! She would say, ‘Thanks, love you, sunbae~’ and then just leave.”

Shin Dong-yup playfully added, “And now that she’s married, people were like, ‘Wait, what just happened?'” sending the whole room into laughter.

Without missing a beat, Park Byung-eun playfully admitted, “I misunderstood too,” making Jo Bo-ah laugh in embarrassment. He added, “She’s always saying things like, ‘Thank you, I love you, I respect you,’ and then she goes and gets married? I was so upset.”

Shin Dong-yup teased back, “He was furious after she got married,” prompting Park to joke, “I stared at my phone for a whole month just waiting for a message.”

Jo Bo-ah tied the knot in October 2024. Though married life is private, her charm and honesty continue to shine in every public appearance.
