Joo Ji-hoon Reflects on His Humble Childhood and Shares a Heartfelt Message to His Parents

On the March 12 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” Joo Ji-hoon appeared as a guest and shared personal stories from his early years.
He reminisced, “I didn’t grow up in a wealthy environment. As a child, I lived in a small single-room space near a dried seafood shop. It was cramped, had poor insulation, and we had to boil water over a coal fire just to wash.” Despite these hardships, some of his fondest memories were of rainy days when his mother would open the sliding doors and make pancakes, filling their home with warmth and joy.

He continued, “My father worked in construction. Most people take vacations, but for our family, market days were our breaks because my dad had to work whenever the sun was up.” Even now, Joo Ji-hoon cherishes the sensation of swimming in the rain, a feeling reminiscent of his childhood.
He added, “I also spent a lot of time playing in the fields where my mom worked, which is why I got this tan,” recalling his childhood fondly.

During the show, Joo Ji-hoon also sent a heartfelt video message to his parents.
“Mom, Dad, I finally appeared on a nationwide broadcast that you both love. Dad, I know you don’t express it much, but I worry a lot about your bad leg, so please take care of your health. Mom, keep up with your workouts like you always do, and I hope my sister Hye-ran does well with her pilates,” he said, showing his affection for his family.
