How is Jun Ji-hyun Faring after Investigation and Country Traitor Accusations?

Recently, Jun Ji-hyun became the talk of town as she was mentioned alongside Kim Soo-hyun – who starred alongside her in “My Love from the Star” and has been surrounded in controversies regarding his past statements and alleged relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron. In particular, the actress was criticized as a “traitor to South Korea” alongside Kim Soo-hyun by YouTube channel Garo Sero, who bought up a past advertisement of the two.
On top of that, the actress previously experienced a tax investigation, raising concerns about her future activities. Particularly, a media outlet reported on February 10th that the NTS had conducted an intensive tax audit on Jun Ji-hyun in September 2023, leading to a substantial tax imposition. This was her first tax audit in nine years since 2014, prompting criticisms and accusations of tax evasion.

Within the same day, Jun Ji-hyun‘s agency, IEUM#, told MyDaily, “Jun Ji-hyun underwent a tax audit in 2023 and was confirmed to have no issues after following all legal procedures.”
The agency further explained, “However, due to differences in interpretation between the tax accountant and the NTS regarding expense processing methods, there were some discrepancies in certain items, resulting in an additional tax payment of about 20 million KRW. This is a common occurrence in tax adjustments“, emphasizing, “Therefore, we want to clarify that this additional tax has nothing to do with any major tax issues or illegal activity.”

In the end, Jun Ji-hyun so far remained unaffected by the negative news, and even announced her return to the big screen with director Yeon Sang-ho’s upcoming work, “Colony”. It is known that “Colony” will also feature various other stars including Ji Chang-wook, Koo Kyo-hwan, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rok, Go Soo, among others.
